Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur: A university in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, forgot to take the MSc Computer Science Exam after releasing the schedule and issuing the admit cards to students. After arriving at the exam centre, students were informed that the exam would not take place since the university was unprepared.
Candidates appearing for the examination staged a protest at the university demanding strict action against the authorities. The students also urged to launch an investigation into the matter.
The schedule for the first semester of the MSc Computer Science exam was released by the university in February 2024. The candidates, who had also travelled from nearby districts, were shocked to learn that the institution had not prepared for the exam.
NSUI Demands Action Against University Officials
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) workers entered the Vice Chancellor’s office after learning of the situation. The NSUI demanded strict action against the guilty authorities for meddling with the future of the students.
Two employees who were in charge of the examination have been asked to respond to the Vice Chancellor’s request for information within three days. He promised that strict action would be taken against the responsible once the investigation report was submitted.
Meanwhile, the registrar of the university, Dr. Deepesh Mishra announced that an inquiry committee was formed. He noted that a revised schedule had been made available and that the first-semester test for the MSc in Computer Science would take place from March 7 to March 15, 2024.
‘University’s Negligence Is Alarming’
Sachin Rajak, a leader of the NSUI organization, expressed serious concerns and said that the university administration’s negligence in forgetting the date sheet and necessary arrangements for conducting exams is alarming. He also mentioned that students dedicated time and effort to prepare, only to be deceived.
The NSUI leader stated that the lapse is unacceptable for a prestigious university. Meanwhile, a student expressed his concerns and said that they studied all night for the exam, only to arrive at the university and learn of the administration’s oversight.
